Safe Virtual Worlds for kids

New online games, or Virtual Worlds are quickly becoming a very popular place for kids to play with others. One reason they are growing so fast is the fact that these virtual worlds have many safety features built right in. However, those features are not the sole reason for the fast growth that these sites are experiencing. There are many other features such as customizable characters and home or virtual pets that you must care for.

Fantage is one online virtual world targeted towards children aged 6-14. Players of Fantage can create a customized avatar, play games and chat with other members, alter their avatar's environment, win awards, earn stars, and use the stars to buy new items in the game.
Kids are attracted to many of the virtual world because of their 3d animation, colorful worlds to be explored, and the ability for them to create their own avatars. Player interaction is the single most attractive feature of a virtual world. You are able to play with people from all over the world. Even though there are many safety features of these sites there are still some common sense rules one should follow.
Three important rules for children when using online games!

Don't ever tell anyone your personal information such as your name or address. Even your phone number or where you go to school.

· Tell your parents if you have any troubles. For example if someone says or does something that makes you feel uncomfortable or if they ask you about your real information.

· Your password is for you and your parents only. Don't ever tell it to anyone. Even if they say they work for the website. Think about it if they worked there they would already know it!

There are some kids who will spend to much time playing on virtual worlds. For these ones some games let you track the amount of time spent playing and will log you out after a set amount of time.

All children have different personalities, so not all will like the same virtual world. With many different avatar types for children to choose, including penguins, ponies, cartoon characters like fantage, bears, dolls, pets, plush pets, farm animals, robots, and even monsters. You can be confident that you will be able to find a virtual world that will match your childs tastes. Just remember to play by the rules and be safe!
